He seems to be trending in the right direction with the Vikings set to host the Detroit Lions.

It seems as if veteran running back Aaron Jones is trending in the right direction with the Vikings set to host the Detroit Lions on Sunday afternoon at U.S. Bank Stadium. He has been listed as questionable by the Vikings ahead of the matchup.
Asked for more details about Jones and his hamstring injury, head coach Kevin O’Connell noted that the Vikings are still working through what exactly that want to do with him.
“I know he’s prepared,” O’Connell said. “We will see how he feels as we work through this weekend.”
It’s worth noting that Jones was a limited participant in practice on Thursday and Friday. Though his presence was a good sign for the Vikings, they typically like to have players log time as a full participant before clearing them to play in a game.
If Jones isn’t ready to go, running back Ty Chandler would likely be the starter, with recently acquired running back Cam Akers likely serving as the backup.
Cashman ruled out
Not surprisingly, the Vikings ruled out linebacker Blake Cashman for Sunday’s game.
That was the assumption given the fact that Cashman didn’t practice this week as he continues to deal with turf toe. He will be reevaluated next week with the Vikings set to play the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday night at SoFi Stadium. It wouldn’t be surprising if Cashman is ruled out for that game, as well, because it’s such a quick turnaround.
It will be on linebackers Ivan Pace Jr. and Kamu Grugier-Hill to step up to fill the void.
Risner getting close
After returning to practice this week, right guard Dalton Risner is listed as questionable.
If Risner indeed makes his return to a game this weekend, it would likely come at the expense of right guard Ed Ingram. Asked specifically about Risner and his back injury, O’Connell responded, “I’m really proud of the way Dalton has handled the whole situation.”
There would need to be a corresponding move from the Vikings if Risner is activated from injured reserve.
Briefly
Looking at the other players on the injury report, cornerback Akayleb Evans (hip) has been ruled out, while tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee), defensive tackle Harrison Phillips (shoulder) and edge rusher Pat Jones II (shoulder) are listed as questionable.
