Tower fire 2nd in two weeks—in same neighborhood

TOWER–An early Saturday morning fire destroyed a garage and two vehicles in Tower . The fire was reported around 12:30 a.m. in the 500 block of 2nd Street South. It is second the fire in only two weeks after another devastating fire destroyed a nearby neighbor’s house and garage.

According to the resident owners of the garage and Northland FireWire, Breitung Fire and Rescue battled the fire and kept it from spreading to a garage only a few feet away.

In addition to the garage and two vehicles being destroyed, the siding on a neighbor’s house and a vehicle sustained minor damage.

“In the end, it’s a garage fire, and stuff can be replaced, posted the resident on social media. “We know a home is much harder to lose, and we feel for the neighbor who lost everything.”

Also responding to the call were the Breitung Police, St. Louis County Sheriffs, Greenwood, Eagles Nest, Cook, Embarrass, Vermilion Lake, and Tower fire departments. Tower Area Ambulance Service provided medical standby.
