On anniversary of MLK death, niece delivers call for unity

With renewed ‘surge of religious freedom,’ Dr. Alveda King emphasizes that the American Dream is for everyone.

ATLANTA, April 4, 2025 /Christian Newswire/—Dr. Alveda King, niece of iconic civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., delivers a powerful call to action, urging the nation to come together in 2025. King encourages Americans to embrace hope and work toward a future of positive change and new beginnings.

King emphasizes that the American Dream is for everyone, with equal freedom and opportunity to succeed.

In the wake of current transformational shifts in the atmosphere, King calls for unity, exhorting us to support one another, recognizing that we are all one blood, one human race, from the womb to the tomb and beyond.

“When peripherals collide, convergence is imminent,” says King. “The convergency of current events cannot be just a coincidence; with the first 100 days of the new Trump administration and the surge of religious freedom in particular, we have a chance to reflect on the progress we have made in the movement of The Kingdom of God.”

King invites Americans to join in prayer for our nation as we continue in this new season of promise: “Through our prayers, our hope, and our continued hard work, we can finally rejoice that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”

King’s videos “Pray for America” and “Let Freedom Ring” convey the heart of this message of one blood, one human race, from the womb to the tomb and beyond.

In keeping with her legacy of service, Dr. Alveda King will accept the “new assignment” of Senior Advisor on Faith and Community Outreach, Center for Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, Office of External and Intergovernmental Affairs, (EIA),(OCR) – Effective Monday, April 7th, 2025.

“I want to live so God can use me; any place and any time,” says Dr. King quoting lyrics of a favorite song.

“Each of [us] should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” — 1 Peter 4:10
