Eileen P. Swanson

Eileen P. Swanson passed away on Wednesday, March 6 2024 at Vermilion Senior Living in Tower.

She was born in Marysville Township on July 11, 1930 to Walford Erickson and Mildred (Mattson) Erickson.

She attended the Buffalo Schools and graduated from Buffalo High School. After graduation she worked in Minneapolis where she was employed as an office worker. At this time she met Lewis.

Eileen was united in marriage to Lewis Swanson on June 27, 1956 in southern California. The couple lived in California, Germany, Colorado, Grand Rapids, Minnesota before moving to Tower where they established their home and lived for 55 years. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 61 years.

Eileen was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower, the Women’s Club in Tower and sold Avon for 35 years.

Eileen is survived by one daughter, Brenda (Robin) Woodall of Ashton, Illinois; one son John (Pam) of Soudan; grandchildren Krista (Cody Koski), Kaitlin (Craig) and Olivia; great-grandchildren Ryder, Eriyan, Arayah, Kaleb, Luke, Etta Lou; one sister, three brothers and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Lewis; great-grandson Bently Joe Lewis and multiple brothers and sisters.

Eileen enjoyed, baking, cooking, knitting, reading and going for walks. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Eileen was a warm, friendly, happy person and always had a smile on her face.

Eileen was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma and mother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held  at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tower with Pastor Guttormson officiating.

Organist will be Mary Beth Reller. Congregational hymns will be “In The Garden” and “Amazing Grace.”

Serving as casket bearers will be Mike Mickle, Tim Mickle, Harlan Broten and Dennis Passi. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Tower at a later date. Arrangements are with Landmark Funeral Home of Virginia
