Driver injured in Pike ATV crash

PIKE TOWNSHIP — One person is injured after an ATV crash in Pike Township on Thursday, Feb. 22.

It happened around 11 p.m. on the 7400 block of Lax Road, northeast of Virginia, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.

When first responders arrived, the driver of the ATV was pinned under the vehicle in the ditch. The driver was treated at the scene by first responders and medical personnel and was then airlifted to Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth.

The name of the driver will be withheld until family members are notified. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Along with the Sheriff’s Office, the Embarrass/Vermillion Fire Department, the Pike Fire Department, Virginia Ambulance service, and Air Memorial helicopter service also assisted at the scene of the accident.
