Community Get-Together and Big Truck Night

Community Get-Together and Big Truck Night

Events galore in 2024-2025’s first month at Tower-Soudan Elementary School

On September 26, the Tower-Soudan school and Breitung Township teamed up to host the Tower-Soudan Community Get-Together and Big Truck Night.

The day began at the T-S school. Mr. Jirik opened up the ceremony with a speech in the newly renovated gym.

Community members were given a chance to see the renovations (a big thank you to Lake Country Power for the grant) and look at the new tables in the cafeteria.

Afterwards, families were able to browse at the book fair, converse with staff, check out our new after school programs, and take a tour of our school forest.

Big Truck Night

The second half of the day took place at the Breitung Park. There were multiple vehicles on display. Kids were able to climb into the vehicles, play at the park, and honk the horns. Adults came together to greet, meet, and catch up with friends.

We all enjoyed a meal and had a great time.

Fire safety

On October 7, our local fire department visited the students. The kids were given important fire safety tips and were able to ask our local experts questions about any topics related to fire safety. The highlight of the day occurred when students were allowed to use some fire equipment and climb into the fire trucks.

Let the games begin

The flag football and volleyball teams began practice this Fall. We have a few scheduled competitions with other schools this Fall and plan to expand our schedules every year. The kids and parents have shown great enthusiasm and we look forward to a year full of activities.

September Students of the Month

We will begin announcing our SOARRR sticker winners this week and we are very excited to begin recognizing our Students of the Month. The students we select have demonstrated the SOARRR (Safe, On-task and Always Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn) expectations throughout the month. We are pleased to announce our Students of the Month for September. Each of these students comes to school with a positive attitude, works hard on their learning tasks, treats others with respect and finds ways to help out around the school. Congratulations to Serenity (1), Emma (K), PJ (2), Shenze (5-6), Delilah (4), Kai’Lee (3).

What are SOARRR and PBIS again?

Lately, we have had a few questions about PBIS and SOARR. Parents and Guardians have noticed that our students are excited about SOARRRing. PBIS is abbreviated for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. The Goal of PBIS is to ensure a safe and positive learning environment for all members of the Tower-Soudan Elementary School. When implementing PBIS, we look to make changes in the school that make it easier for students to succeed academically, behaviorally and socially. We developed a common language and set of expectations for all students and staff.

To help the kids remember and get excited about our PBIS goals, we instituted S.O.A.R.R.R.

Tower-Soudan Golden Eagles SOARRR. We are Safe, On-task and Always Respectful, Responsible and Ready to learn.

We celebrate students that demonstrate safe and on-task behaviors, responsibility, respectfulness and readiness to learn each week and also pick a student of the month.

The Tower-Soudan Golden Eagles are proud to SOARRR each and every day.
