Mesabi Metallics accelerates employee recruitment efforts, aiming to triple employee count heading into Fall
NASHWAUK – Mesabi Metallics Company LLC announces an ambitious expansion of its recruitment efforts this fall, as the company eyes completion of its state-of-the-art, 7-million metric ton per year taconite mining and Direct Reduction grade pellet plant, which is on track to start commercial operations in the first quarter of 2026. As of this summer, Mesabi Metallics has just over 30 employees. By the end of 2024, Mesabi’s goal is to have 75 to 100 employees, effectively tripling its employee count. Open positions currently include electric, civil and mining engineers; operation supervisors for the pellet plant and concentrator plant; geologist; IT-network specialist; and others. More open positions are expected to be added in the coming weeks.
“All of our new positions will be based on site in Nashwauk,” continued Broking. “Not only does this aid efficient business operations and a positive workplace culture, but even more importantly, Mesabi is committed to providing local, family-sustaining jobs and stimulating the Iron Range’s economy.”
