TSHS Board meeting

BREITUNG— The Tower-Soudan Historical Society Board of Directors will be having their monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 13, from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Breitung Community Center in Soudan.
The meeting is open to the public, and guests are welcome.


Next Ruby’s ‘Pop-Up’ Pantry is Thursday, March 14

COOK—The next Pop-Up Pantry is Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 302 E. Vermilion Blvd. in Cook. This is for anyone looking to extend their monthly grocery budget. There is no income or residency requirement. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. and food bundles are available between 4:30-6:00 p.m.
This will be a curbside distribution at the back of the Old Cook School, to limit exposure between guests and volunteers. The Pop-Up Pantry will begin at 4:30 PM. PLEASE DO NOT LINE UP BEFORE 4:00!
Guests should have their $25 cash share donation ready for the volunteers. Shares will be loaded directly into your trunk. Please make sure you have cleaned out your trunk and have room for your food share(s).

The Lunch Bunch

TOWER—The Lunch Bunch will be getting together on Thursday, March 14th at 12:30 p.m. at the Benchwarmer Grille. Please RSVP to Kathy at (218) 753-2530. Anyone who would like to join in is welcomed.


Now casting

REGION—Committee Films, a television production company based in the Twin Cities is currently casting for a new series focused on cabin remodels and preserving family cabins. If you or someone you know is planning to remodel their cabin soon please send an email to cindy@committeefilms.com.


8th District MSHS 2024 scholarships now available

REGION—Several scholarships for $500 or more will be available from the 8th District Minnesota State Horticultural Society for 2024. A scholarship applicant must be a graduating senior residing or attending school in the 8th District, or a non-traditional student, college student or second time winner who will be attending a college or technical school within one calendar year; there are no restriction as to course or school.
The counties in the 8th District include Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis. The applicant must provide evidence of an interest and participation in horticultural/gardening activities, such as a home garden, organized group such as 4-H, Scouts, church, community gardens, or through their school.
Application must be received by Friday, March 15, 2024. The winning recipients will be invited to the 8th District MSHS spring meeting to be held on Saturday, April 20, at the Eveleth Armory.
